Ben Affleck might have left the role of Batman, but if Law & Order: SVU actor, Christopher Meloni has his say, he would be the next Caped Crusader.
In a post on Twitter, Meloni had volunteered to become Batman and had also tagged DC Comics.
“Yo @DCComics this is what the kids call, “going VIRAL”! Pull the trigger. I’m ready. I’m….BATMAN.” Meloni had written.
His tweet had been in response to one of the fan’s reactions to a report from that Robert Pattinson is now being considered for the role of Batman. The idea of Pattinson as the Dark Knight had been a hard pass for the fans that had even they suggested Meloni.
The news had broken that with Ben Affleck would not be returning for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, and the writer and director is now looking for a new actor to play this role.
A report from Justin Krill had indicated that the team is looking for a specific age range for the actor who will take on the role of Batman.
“Excited for The Batman in Summer 2021 and to see Matt Reeves’ vision come to life,’ Affleck had written.
Whoever ends up as this superhero, it will be in a movie that Reeves has described as being unlike anything else Warner Bros. has come up with:
“Right now, I’m involved in The Batman,” Reeves had said.
“What it will be called ultimately, I don’t know. Aquaman is going to be very different from the Todd Phillips Joker movie, and that’s going to be different from Shazam and Harley Quinn. Warners believes they don’t have to try to develop a giant slate that has to have all the plans for how it’s going to connect. What they need to try and do is make good movies with these characters.”
“It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale,” Reeves had added.
“It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime; it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”
The Batman has been scheduled to premiere in theatres on June 25, 2021.
