If you are The Jim Henson Company and Netflix, you can go all out and snap up a few of the best vocal talents of a Landstrider. After almost a year of limited details on the streaming platform’s prequel plans for Jim Henson’s original, in the year, 1982 Netflix has now revealed the entire voice cast that will bring The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance to life. We also get a few first-look images that feature Rian, Brea, and Deet — the trio of the Gelflings.
Due to the cast reveal, the fans know whose voices will be accompanying the squad of heroes. Taron Egerton will play Rian, Anya Taylor-Joy will voice the character, Brea, and Nathalie Emmanuel will play Deet. The list of talent behind this show’s Gelfling voices are also super impressive (Natalie Dormer, Helena Bonham-Carter, Eddie Izzard, Toby Jones, Alicia Vikander, and Mark Strong).
This lineup behind the Skeksis, like the Mystics, is really no less impressive. While Netflix did not really reveal which roles the rest of the cast will be playing, it is surely an star-studded list, including Keegan-Michael Key, Mark Hamill, Simon Pegg, Andy Samberg, Ralph Ineson, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and Jason Isaacs.
Unfolding “many years,” as per Netflix before all the events of the original movie, the Age of Resistance finds Thra in utter peril after the Skeksis corrupt the entire Crystal of Truth, and this spreads “a sickness” across the world.
“When three Gelflings uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit, and an epic battle for the planet begins,” Netflix had teased.
There is no word on the premiere date for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, but we are now digging out the old VHS copies of the original film because it can never be too early to start shoring up on the Thra lore before Netflix finally takes us all back for an all-new dive into nostalgia.
