Disney Rehires James Gunn To Direct ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’

Many months after having been fired for a few inappropriate tweets that were a decade-old, Disney has now reversed its decision about James Gunn. It had been recently revealed that Marvel Studios had changed their minds and brought back James Gunn for directing Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

Deadline had broken this news and said that their decision had been made months ago after a few conversations between Disney and all the executives at Marvel.

The report has said that Walt Disney Studios president, Alan Horn, had met with the director many times after he had been fired. Horn had been persuaded to change his mind after seeing James Gunn’s apology and also his handling of this situation. Gunn’s case had been helped by his cast and fans as well who had defended him.

Gunn had completed the script for Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3, and Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president, has been adamant that the movie would use what Gunn had written. Many other directors had been rumoured for the film, but we are happy that Marvel has finally chosen James Gunn.

The one complicated part is James Gunn’s involvement with Warner Bros. and DC. After Marvel had fired him, Gunn had signed on to write and also direct Suicide Squad 2.
