Will we get to see They Live 2? If John Carpenter is right, then we may. This horror master made its rounds off late for promoting Halloween which will release by the weekend and will also serve as a sequel to the original 1978 movie.
During an interview, Carpenter had been asked regarding how he would approach They Live in today’s world. This had led the icon to tease a sequel. This is what Carpenter said:
“Well, I’m not gonna tell you about that, because it might be closer to reality than you think.”
Universal Pictures had released They Live in the year, 1988 and they would still own the rights to this franchise. While it was not a huge success, it had earned a cult status and is also very famous today.
A remake had been eyed at before. In the year, 2010 the plans for a sequel had made its rounds. It is possible that this idea has shifted and now resembles They Live 2 and not a reboot or remake. John Carpenter had also confirmed that there would be film being developed by Matt Reeves.
“There was a feature film. It was a feature film called Resistance, written by, oh, the guy who did the Apes movies. Matt Reeves. But then he moved on, and so the sequel is, well, we’ll see. We’ll just have to see.”
The first movie, They Live was about a character that had been played by the late actor, Rowdy Roddy Piper, who is a drifter and learns that the gap between the rich and the poor is a result of some alien conspiracy. Using his special glasses to see all the disguised aliens, he is seen trying to stop an invasion.
