Although the movie, Captain Marvel 2 has yet to be announced officially, the very first movie’s opening weekend makes it pretty a convincing enough case for Marvel Studios to move ahead with the plans for a sequel. In a very recent interview, Kevin Feige had given some hints about Carol Danvers’ next stand-alone adventure.
The head of the Marvel Studios had suggested that Captain Marvel might have a lot more stories to tell between all the events of her stand-alone debut and the character’s arrival 20 years later at the Avengers facility. When the Entertainment Tonight interviewer had asked if Carol has managed to end the Kree-Skrull War, Feige had reminded the fans that the character’s immediate future is a blank canvas:
“Well, we don’t know what she did, right? She said she was going to and she went flying off at the end, and then we jump many years into the future. What happened in that intervening time, I think, is something that would be a lot of fun to explore at some point.”
Kevin Feige has not offered any specific answers as of now, but Captain Marvel has left a lot of threads unresolved. Ronanthe Accuser seemed to have taken a lot of interest in Carol’s new abilities, and Yon-Rogg and the Supreme Intelligence are unlikely to take this defeat just lying down.
Then, we have the Skrulls. Although Captain Marvel did not deliver the Secret Invasion storyline, there are talks that this comic book plot might have been saved for a sequel.
Avengers: Endgame will release on April 26th.
