Way before Benedict Cumberbatch’s character, Doctor Strange had told Tony Stark, played by Robert Downery Jr. that they were all “in the endgame now,” Stark had said something similar in the movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron. In fact, the actor, RDJ Downey had mentioned the word in a press junket before Age of Ultron had released.
In the interview, Downey Jr. had been describing what Stark would find himself doing in the film. The interview has not started making its rounds again because of @ImAFilmEditor.
“He’s working on a system,” Downey had said.
“That will make it so the Avengers really won’t have to do what they’ve been doing all along which, purportedly should be the endgame.”
Coincidentally, Downey’s line in this interview matches what his character had said in the film. In case you cannot remember when this line had been said, it happens when the Avengers argues whether or not to move ahead with the Ultron initiative:
“A hostile alien army came charging through a hole in space,” Stark had said.
“We’re standing three hundred feet below it. We’re the Avengers. We can bust arms dealers all the live long day but that, up there, that’s the endgame.”
Endgame had been a huge anticipated title, and the Russo Brothers had denied that it would be the title for the last Avengers movie.
