Josh Brolin entered the teeming world of X-Men films in May with Deadpool 2, and he took on fierce competition from names like Michael Shannon and Brad Pitt to get the role of Nathan Summers aka Cable. Although the actor is also famous for his portrayal of Thanos in the MCU, he is dividing his time between the two characters.
Cable’s debut was a major thing for Deadpool 2 as well as the X-Men franchise from Fox, but, while talking to USA Today, Brolin disclosed that he wasn’t very happy with his work. “I do like the way it turned out. But I thought I could have been better,” he said.
Elaborating further about the future of Cable since he is now officially a member of the X-Force, Brolin said, “Thank God. Man. I literally want to redeem myself to myself. I want to do a better version of what I do.”
However, Brolin also admitted to not having a truly positive experience during the filming of Deadpool 2, he said that being closely associated with Ryan Reynolds was a special aspect of the production: “But then it clicked. I got to know (Reynolds) better. I trust him more. And we started this volley where it was like, ‘This is actually fun.’”
Deadpool 2 garnered positive reviews generally, and critics appreciated Brolin’s performance. The gutsy time traveler was the ideal comedic counter-balance to Wade Wilson’s loud style of being a hero. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe too, Brolin was praised for his partly considerate portrayal of Thanos.
Not much is known about X-Force movie, but, Deadpool 2’s ending left a team comprising of Brolin’s Cable, Reynolds’ Deadpool, ZazieBeetz’s Domino, and possibly Stefan Kapičić as Colossus and Julian Dennison as Firefist.
Although this composition might change, but, David Leitch had put the characters in place so that the team could reunite to battle another foe.
Despite Brolin’s harsh opinion of his work, it is true that 2018 has been a blockbuster season for the actor.
David Leitch directed Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers ZazieBeetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable and Julian Dennison as Russell.
