She was born on 14th May in 1986 in Gold Coast, Queensland. Her mother is Robyn and her stepfather is David Cushway. She is of English and Hungarian descent. She studied at Southport State High School where she involved in theatre, playing guitar, and studying film.
In 2007, she participated in her first singing competition and she performed under several names. In 2010, she released the long play, Broadway Gossip under the name of Amy Cushway. In 2013, she came up with new name, Amy Shark and the following year, she released her extended play, Nelson independently. She became active on YouTube since 2014. In 2015, she released the song, Golden Fleece that won Pop Song of the Year award and it became famous nationwide. The following year, she released the single, Adore that was ranked at number 2 on the Triple J Hottest 100. After that, she signed a contract with Sony and released her official debut EP, Night Thinker in 2017. The EP reached number 2 on the ARIA Charts. That year, she appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden and performed the song, Adore. In 2018, she premiered a single, I Said Hi. Her debut album was Love Monster that was released in 2018. That year, she also performed at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony. She is currently working on her next album.
In 2013, she married Shane Billings.
She has won the ARIA Music Award, APRA Award, and the others.
