Anita Ekberg had done many publicity stunts to get fame and to be under the limelight. Once, in London’s Berkeley Hotel’s lobby, her dress burst open but later, she admitted that it was a preplan that she made with a photographer.
Ekberg came into the industry after winning the Miss Sweden contest. Later, she went to win the Miss Universe title but didn’t get through. Then, she made her debut in film with The Mississippi Gambler in 1953. After that, she appeared men’s magazine, Playboy. In 1955, she appeared in short-lived television series Casablanca.
She also had a small part in the film, Blood Alley. She became famous internationally after being cast in the film, La Dolce Vita in 1960. Her other film credits are The Golden Blade, Artists and Models, Zarak, The Man Inside, and many more.
She married twice but both of her marriages were unsuccessful. From 1956-1959, she was married to Anthony Steel. Later in 1963, she married Rik Van Nutter but they also got divorced in 1975.She died on 11th January 2015 from complications of enduring illnesses. She has won the Golden Globe Award and Capri Legend Award.
