The American actress and singer who became most popular for being a Mouseketeers and who became famous for appearing in the Beach Party film series during the mid-1960s is none other than Annette Funicello.

She was born on 22^nd October in 1942 in Utica, New York, the U.S. Her parents are Joseph Edward Funicello and Virginia Jeanne. When she was 4, her family moved to Southern California.

To overcome her shyness, she took dancing and music lessons. At the age of 12, she was discovered by Walt Disney while performing as the Swan Queen in Swan Lake. She was cast one of the Mouseketeers by Disney. In 1955, she signed a contract with Disney. She became popular for appearing in many Mouseketeers sketches and dance routines. She also appeared in several serials on The Mickey Mouse Club. She launched her singing career after performing a song in the Annette serial. She appeared in the role of Anita Cabrillo on the Disney television series, Zorro. She also appeared in the series, Make Room for Daddy. She also was cast in the series, Disneyland After Dark. Her other television series are The Greatest Show on Earth, Fantasy Island, Lots of Luck, Full House, Growing Pains, The Horsemasters, and many more. She made her big-screen debut with the film, The Shaggy Dog in 1959. In 1963, she was cast in the film series of Beach Party that became a huge hit. She also was cast as Dee Dee in the film, Muscle Beach Party in 1964. She also reprised her role in its sequels. Her other films are Thunder Ally, Ski Party, Pajama Party, Head, Back to the Beach, Troop Beverly Hills, and so on. In 1995, she published her autobiography, A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes: My Story.

From 1965-1981, she was married to Jack Gilardi with whom she had three children. Later in 1986, she married harness racing horse trainer, Glen Holt.

On 8^th April in 2013, she died from complications due to multiple sclerosis at the age of 70.

She was honored with the Star on the Walk of Fame in 1993.
