After 18 years of portraying the role of Lana Lang in Superman III, she appeared as Superman’s adoptive mother in the Superman mythos in the TV series Smallville. Her other television series are Hawaii Five-0, The Rookies, Police Woman, Strong Medicine, Killer of a Killer, The Punisher, and many more.

She was born on 1^st April in 1952 in Houston, Texas, the U.S. Her parents are William West Toole Jr. and Dorothy Geraldine. She learned dancing at the age of 3. Her family moved to Los Angeles when she was 13 and there, she started taking acting lessons.

From 1983-1993, she was married to Bill Geisslinger with whom she has two children. Later in 1999, she married Michael McKean.
