The following year, she released her third album, Concrete Rose. In 2005, she made her feature film debut with Coach Carter and appeared in the television film, The Muppets Wizard of Oz. In 2006, she appeared in the teen comedy, John Tucker Must Die and in 2007, she appeared in the action film, Resident Evil: Extinction. In 2012, she has landed a role in the television series, Army Wives. In 2014, she released her fifth album, Braveheart. In 2019, she released the single, Floating and she was present in the soundtrack of the film, Stuck.
From 2004, she started dating rapper, Nelly but they ended their relationship after ten years.
She has won the American Music Award, Grammy Award, Billboard Award, Soul Train Award, and others.
