She was born on 18^th July in 1956 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the age of 9, she appeared in her first community theatre musical and from there, her acting career has begun. She studied music at the Julliard School and earned a degree in psychology from Columbia University.

At that time, she released her debut album, Little River in 1983. After that, she released over a dozen albums. In 1996, she created the children’s series, Huggbug Club for which she wrote the scripts and also wrote 250+ original songs and the series was produced by her mother. Her other television series are Happy Days, The Waverly Wonders, Fantasy Island, The Dukes of Hazzard, Midnight Caller, and many others. In 1982, she made her film debut with Tennessee Stallion. In 2006, she co-wrote and co-directed the adventure film, Circus Island. Her other films are A Chorus Line, Dallas: J.R. Returns, Circus Camp, Murder at the Mansion, and the others.

In 1988, she got married to businessman Donald Berkowitz with whom she has twin children.
