Avengers: Infinity War’s sequel will bring the curtains down on a phase of MCU and start a new one.
It is not a mere coincidence that the original Avengers team members are the only major survivors of the Thanos snap.
Iron-Man and Captain America will need to ignore their disagreements of the Civil War and join hands to somehow revive the characters that die. This fact is further strengthened by the knowledge that Spider-Man: Far From Home is being filmed, and sequels to Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange are under development.
If at all then the survivors of the Thanos snap are the cause of concern for Avengers lovers since the contracts of leading stars like Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. are ending with Avengers 4.
It is well known that the effects of the Thanos snap will have to be undone anyhow. The makers of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 have suggested that the resurrection will “come at an incredibly high cost.”
Talking to Variety, Anthony Russo said: “I will say this: There is a real commitment on our end to the stakes. Yes, this is a fantasy world, and yes, remarkable things can happen in a fantasy world, but…”
Joe completed his sentence: “They come at an incredibly high cost.”
Joe added: “For us, there will always be stakes and the stakes have been progressing from film to film. And I think you can extrapolate that they will continue to deepen in Avengers 4.”
Now, although we can take a guess about which one out of Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk, Thor and Hawkeye will perish in the return battle, there is one very apparent plot point that might come into play. No, we are not talking about the death of Captain America, it is too obvious.
However, the point we talk about is Tony Stark’s death. He is the leader of the MCU, Peter Parker’s mentor, and he has such a deep character development, and we have seen him evolve from a self-obsessed billionaire playboy into a sacrificial mentor. We must recall the fact that Doctor Strange had exchanged the Time Stone in lieu of Tony’s life to ensure that the ‘Endgame’ takes place. He might, however, die later on.
There is probably no better way for Iron-Man to exit than to sacrifice his life to revive those who had died in Avengers: Infinity War. The question is, how?
There is a popular theory that those who died in Infinity War are in fact, trapped inside the Soul Stone.
Just imagine what will happen if the Soul Stone goes back to Vormir, where Thanos had sacrificed Gamora to get it.
The grand scene would be for Tony Stark to ask Steve Rogers to push him over the edge. He is the one that Steve Rogers truly loves and cares about. Sacrificing his own life to resurrect the victims of the snap would be a great farewell for Tony Stark.
That would heroically wrap up the Iron-Man saga, and the present Marvel Cinematic Universe with the culmination of Avengers 4.
Avengers 4 is scheduled to release in UK theatres on April 26, 2019.
