The movie, Avengers: Endgame was a great movie, and the fans are still heading to the theatres to catch another glimpse of the film. It was a pretty emotional, action-packed and gritty adventure. This film would have actually been a lot different if these scenes were not cut from it:
1. Tony Stark was to speak with Morgan like Thanos spoke to Gamora after the snap
Tony was actually supposed to talk to a teen Morgan, played by the actress, Katherine Langford in the soul world the same way Thanos had spoken to young Gamora. The Russos then explained:
“There was an idea that we had that Tony was going to go into the metaphysical way station that Thanos goes in when he snapped his fingers. And that there was going to be a future version of his daughter in that way station. But the scene was cut after test audiences appeared confused by it.”
2. Hawkeye and Thor had their roles reversed in Endgame
In the movie, Thor and Hawkeye have the worst reactions to the snap. Hawkeye had become a murderous lunatic, and Thor was raging alcoholic. The first idea was to have Thor become a murderous lunatic. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely had this to say:
“When we were spitballing for Endgame, we started with – Thor’s on a mission of vengeance. And then we were like; he was on a mission of vengeance in the last movie. This is all this guy ever does! And fails, all the time. Let’s drive him into a wall and see what happens.”
3. Thor tries to kiss Valkyrie.
By the end of the movie, Thor hands over the reign of Asgard to Valkyrie and they were supposed to have a romantic moment when he goes on to misread her signal and then goes in for a kiss.
“He had this beat with Valkryie where after he sort of turns over the kingdom to her, she puts her arm on his shoulder and he sort of starts to lean in for a kiss. And she goes, ‘What are you doing?’ And he goes, ‘Oh I thought the touch..’ She’s like, ‘Yeah, it’s a goodbye touch. A tap I’m giving you,” Anthony Russo said.
4. Thanos snaps his fingers in Endgame, not Infinity War.
The version we saw had Thanos snap his fingers in Infinity War, but originally, he was not supposed to do this. Christopher Markus said that it would have felt like jerking all the fans around instead of having a proper ending.
“If you had stopped it before he snapped his fingers, or with four Stones, that really is just a pause button. That really is just going, What’s he going to do? Will your hero stop dangling from the cliff? And we wanted to be much more definitive.”
5. The Morag scene with Peter Quill, War Machine and Nebula was meant to be an underwater scene.
The underwater scene could have actually been pretty cool but it would have also made this scene a very complicated one and would not have allowed Thanos to get on Nebula’s trail.
6. Hawkeye sacrifices himself instead of Black Widow in Vormir.
In the original script, Hawkeye was supposed to defeat Black Widow and then jump off the cliff, but then, Jen Underdahl, the visual effects producer had read the draft and told the makers to let Black Widow make the sacrifice.
