Avengers: Endgame Will Be Stan Lee’s Last Cameo, Says Joe Russo Instead of ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’

According to Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame might have the last and final cameo appearance from Stan Lee.

“I believe that his final cameo is in Endgame. I don’t remember if he was well enough to do the cameo in Spider-Man [Far From Home],” Russo had said.

“But it was incredible to work with him.” Russo added, “I grew up on his comic books. Stan Lee was an idol of mine as a kid. To be able to have the opportunity to not only to work under the material he created but to work with him is a childhood dream come true.”

Stan Lee, who died last November when he was 95 had made an appearance posthumously in Captain Marvel. The writer and director of Dark Phoenix, Simon Kinberg, had also confirmed that the X-Men sequel does not have an appearance from Lee.

Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios chief had hinted that Stan Lee can make an appearance in Spider-Man: Far From Home which will release in July, while he had been speaking with Entertainment Tonight:

“We’ll see,” Feige had said.

“We’re heading — we shot a couple of others, so we’re coming up on the last of them, yes.”

The studio had also filmed many cameos at once for accommodating Stan Lee, who had filmed many cameos in one day under James Gunn, the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise write and director. These cameo appearances had then made an appearance in Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange, and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and also, Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Russo had then participated in a pretty similar approach, and told BBC Radio in April that,

“Stan, typically we try to get him out — he doesn’t love to fly — so we try to get him out for his cameos around the same time. So if we have other movies shooting on the same lot that we’re on, for instance, Ant-Man [and the Wasp] or Avengers 4, we group his cameos together and then move him from one set to the next and get him through his cameos in one day.”

When he had asked about future Stan Lee’s cameo appearances in November, Kevin Feige had been pretty secretive:

“I’m not going to tell you what specifically, but Stan always appreciated a good surprise.”

Stan Lee has made appearances in all the 21 Marvel Studios productions and also Captain Marvel.

Avengers: Endgame will release on April 26, and this will be followed by Spider-Man: Far From Home July 5.
