With the movie, Avengers: Endgame all set to be a culmination of the MCU in the modern iteration, this Joe and Anthony Russo film is all ready to drop huge surprises all throughout the reported three-hour runtime.
While the actual crux of the film will focus on the Avengers trying to take down Thanos, there has long been speculation that a much bigger threat may actually be on the horizon. From the Living Tribunal to Galactus, there surely has been no shortages of theories on which villain would make an appearance. One super intriguing theory that has surfaced online says that the Avengers will take on -Kronos.
According to this theorist who had posted the theory, there are 3 parts to this: the very fact that the Endgame logo actually points towards the character, word that a new Jim Starlin character would be showing up, and also a few rumours that Doctor Strange had filmed a few scenes with a computer-generated character.
This theory has said that the Avengers will have to work with Kronos for reversing time and also undoing The Snap and Kronos will break out of his Quantum Realm and will be hungry for revenge on the people that had put him there.
While this theory does mention the translucency of the Endgame logo, it looks like this is a cherry-on-top-type scenario for the theorist. With the whole logo thing out of the way, the very foundation of the theory is dependent on the fact that Jim Starlin had hinted that he would have many more characters who would show up in the movie, Avengers: Endgame. Although he has since explained that it was a joke, Starlin had previously mentioned that he would have more credits in Endgame than he actually did in the movie, Infinity War.
All the fans of cosmic Marvel comics will surely recognise Starlin as the creator of cosmic heroes such as Drax, Gamora and Thanos.
Since an alleged joke is a pretty far cry from an official confirmation, this theory has gained some clout when you think about the rumours of Strange filming scenes on a soundstage with a character who is computer-generated. Although Kronos is a body-less cosmic entity character, the time-bending character takes on a translucent humanoid figure.
Between the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers: Endgame, Scott Lang could have actually stumbled across the Eternal somewhere in the dimension. After Lang leaves the Quantum Realm, he can inform the Avengers of the character’s existence.
One must note that Kronos is the grandfather of Thanos and a member of the humanoid race known as The Eternals. With Marvel Studios developing an Eternals film, Endgame may be the perfect time to start introducing a few of these ideas.
Avengers: Endgame will release on April 26th. Other upcoming Marvel movies include Captain Marvel on March 8th and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5th.
