No Game, No Life

For an Isekai anime, it is very important to attract the fandom with their alternate dimension or world. This world must be beautiful and different from the mundane earth, we live on. In this feature this anime outscores others.

It is based on a light novel and started airing as an anime from April to July 2014. It has 12 episodes of jam-packed adventure in total, to enjoy.

This anime follows a pair of siblings who are average in real life but turn into Superheroes as they enter into a different world. The siblings in question are Sora and Shiro. They are a pair of gamers, who though not really successful in real life, are beyond amazing in virtual games.

They are so famous that their invincible game avatars have become the stuff of legends. One day, a young boy, calling himself God summons the siblings to a fantastic alternate world. In that alternative world, war is forbidden and all conflicts–even those involving national borders are decided by the outcome of games.

The siblings obviously get excited by this, but all their anticipation and fire dies down when they realize that in this world humanity has been cornered and confined in one city. They realize, they are outnumbered by the other species and are actually not the hunters but prey.

This anime shows that there is a superhero in all of us, all we need is to believe in our own selves and rise to the occasion. It is the size of their heart that makes Sora and Shiro, the two failures in life, turn out to be the saviors of mankind.

ReZero - Starting Life In Another World

The title of this anime basically means starting life in another world from zero, aka from the ground. That is a very original and downright gold premise for an Isekai anime. It puts our protagonist as well as the viewers in a land of possibilities as well as dangers.

Based on a series of light novels, the anime has really found its footing and has become a huge success, with a second season underway.

It follows high school student Natsuki Subaru, who one day miraculously is summoned to another world out of nowhere.

He goes into this world absolutely, figuratively blind with no idea, what to do. He doesn’t know who has summoned him or even the reason for his unexpected summoning.

He begins to make sense of the situation when a mysterious silver-haired girl saves him along with her cat. It is when he starts collaborating with the girl that the real story begins.

When they finally start to make sense of the situation and garner a clue, they get another shock and are put to their deaths by someone.

Then he is again revived and realizes that he has the insane capacity to rewind time after dying. Now putting all his past woes aside, this normal high school student has to now put every bit of his energy into saving that girl from imminent death.

This is an anime of growth and transformation. It is about choices and predominantly relationships and how far we will go to protect them. It is all these varying facets that make this anime an interesting and wonderful watch.

The Rising Of The Shield Hero

An anime adaptation of the light novel series was announced and put in place in 2017. The project was produced by Kinema Citrus and directed by Takao Abo, with Keigo Koyanagi handling series composition, Masahiro Suwa designing the characters and Kevin Penkin composing the music.

The anime begins with the kingdom of Melromarc, summoning four legendary heroes of the past to save them.

Their call was answered in modern-day Japan, from where our unwitting heroes are transported to this fantasy universe.

Of all these heroes, the person with the most interesting start was definitely otaku Naofumi Iwatani aka ‘shield hero’ who is labeled the weakest due to his lack of offensive capability and apparent inexperience. When the heroes part ways to start their journeys, he only has one willing companion: the beautiful princess Malty Melromarc. However, she soon betrays him, steals all his money, and accuses him of taking advantage of her. Nobody believes him in this unknown world, and he becomes isolated.

Being labeled a criminal, and accused of wrong things otaku takes this to heart and begins to go on a path to find retribution and revenge against everyone who did him wrong.

The story deals with the personality of human beings and how any action we do can cause a huge change. Therefore, any act done by us should be performed very carefully, because it can impact others badly and fill them with darkness capable of destroying everyone and everything.

Inuyasha

Inuyasha has been widely regarded as one of the few anime which ended very soon and deserved at least one more season. The reason for this quick ending has been widely publicized because it stemmed from a feud between the director and creator of the manga.

Natsuki Takaya, the creator went as far as to say that she wouldn’t create another season as long as Studio Deen has the rights to the anime. Even after so much head butting and hot tempers flying around, the anime was hugely acknowledged and was ranked twenty by TV Asahi of the 100 best anime series in 2006 based on an online survey in Japan.

The central character of this series was Kagome Higurashi who lives on the grounds of her family’s Shinto shrine with her mother, grandfather and younger brother, Sota. This seemingly normal girl has her world flipped upside down when on her fifteenth birthday she goes to retrieve her cat and is dragged into the enshrined Bone Eater’s Well by a centipede demon that emerged from it.

She finds herself being transferred years earlier, in the Sengoku period. The demon turns out to be an ancient creature who was defeated fifty years prior by Kikyo, a warrior priestess who is the keeper of the Shikon Jewel.

We also get an intense love story between Kagome and Inuyasha that literally defeats everything- whether it be monsters or time. The viewers have their hands on their heart, till the end, in anticipation of their ultimate fate.

‘Saga Of Tanya The Evil’ starts when an unnamed atheist, at the moment of being murdered, is confronted by a god-like entity for not having or practicing faith in his life. Rather than being scared, the salaryman mocks his existence. The entity to prove its superiority decides to reincarnate the man into a different world where he would face difficult circumstances and would be forced to turn to the entity for help.

Thus the salaryman is reborn as Tanya in an alternate universe which is like imperial Germany. The entity threatens her- if she does not die a natural death or refuses to have faith in it, her soul will leave the cycle of reincarnation and will be sent to hell for the countless sins that Tanya has committed in her previous life.

To save herself from this situation, she decides to join the Empire’s Mage Corps and fight in the war, hoping to reach a high enough rank as fast as possible to remain far from the battlefield. Since she has found herself in a place where the murder has become a natural phenomenon, this is the only way to avoid the risk of being killed.

Though she is a very polite and graceful girl from the outside, she brings her tough and ruthless demeanor even in this world. She considers it to be a way to quickly rise in her career so that she can avoid her imminent fate.

The anime throughout its run, witnesses not only the epic battles of this world but also the battles inside Tanya, as she fights off the two opposites in her, that have come about because of her distrust in a higher power.

Premiered in 2015 this anime is produced by Genco, Magic Capsule, Warner Bros Japan, KlockWorx, Showgate, Bandai Namco Games under A-1 Pictures studio and falls under the genre of action, fantasy, adventure and military and is based on a light novel.

Three months after the attack a special team is formed which goes on the other side of the gate to understand what they are dealing with and to make peace. If they fail they can get stuck in a situation of a bloody war.

The most fascinating thing was how the creators try to make the viewers understand the political and economic situation of the world that has affected the characterization.

The issue is very hard to explain through anime but the creators have done a good job in making us realize this complicated nature of human society that is often manipulated by wars and political agendas.

In twelve episodes not for once, the characters’ main focus is disturbed. The creators have balanced the socio-economic aspect as well as the story that is connecting both the worlds. The audience is given organized time to understand the philosophical aspect of both the worlds.

Masato Jinbo directed the series and supervised scripts at Silver Link, with Takao Sano and Keiichi Sano adapted the original character designs for animation.

In a few words, this anime is capable enough to make viewers keen. Simple in its outset, it makes your jaw drop by the amazing stories and characters it produces. Everything in this story happens in The Western Restaurant Nekoya, a restaurant situated in a mundane corner of an undisclosed Tokyo shopping district which offers a lot of Japanese versions of Western dishes.

On the weekdays it is like any other restaurant serving up delicious meals but on Saturdays, it becomes a portal to a different world inhabited by elves, dragons, animal men and other fantastic creatures, who enter the restaurant and partake of its exotic food, with many of them becoming regular patrons.

The Restaurant in many ways is a symbol of diversity, as we see people of many kinds and walks of life enter in this unique world. They all relish together to celebrate their love for cuisines while being part of different worlds.

The reason this place remains the entity it is, all because of Master, a demi-human. He is not only the head chef but also the protector of this place. Digimon

If you don’t know who or what Digimon is, then you have surely been living under a rock. After Pokemon, if any franchise has been able to duplicate its success, it’s been Digimon.
Digimon is a Japanese media franchise encompassing virtual pet toys, anime, manga, video games, films and a trading card game. The franchise focuses on the eponymous creatures, who inhabit a “Digital World”, a parallel universe that originated from Earth’s various communication networks.

The first season begins with seven young children getting transferred into a different portal outside their summer camp. As they enter the world they meet their own Digimons. The kids’ Digivices allow their partner Digimons to “digivolve” into stronger forms and combat enemies. As the kids explore to find a way home, they learn that they are “DigiDestined”, children chosen to save the Digital World.

It gained a huge international following, especially in America. Though initially considered a mere rip off Pokémon franchise, the viewers slowly warmed up to it when they realized that the characters here interacted and developed realistically.

It also has a more mature stand than Pokémon. It has involvement as well as the integration of more complicated science fiction stories and societal themes. Thus, slowly many kids began to outgrow Pokémon and joined the Digimon camp.

Due to its popularity, it gained the place first at the start of the May 2000 Nielsen rating sweeps, surpassing Pokémon: Adventures on the Orange Islands among viewers aged 2–11 and 6–11. Retailers and businesses such as snack food company Jel Sert and toy store chain Toys “R” Us capitalized on the popularity of the series by licensing it for promotion with their own products.

Re Creators

Re: Creators was exclusively developed for Amazon Prime. It has achieved a greater amount of popularity. It is quite similar to the ‘Isekai Quartet’ as it has characters coming from different dimensions into this universe.

Unlike in the former, here the universes are not known- therefore the creators had more freedom and flexibility with their art. Here the stakes are also much higher since there is a quite literal battle going on.

The story also has a very emotional and important beginning. The protagonist’s friend Setsuna commits suicide when she is blamed for plagiarism. This makes Sōta Mizushino, our protagonist, start on a very bleak note. Sōta blames himself for this catastrophe as he ignored Setsuna when she asked for his help. In reality, he was bitter towards her, since she got more appreciation for her work than him.

This shows how important it is to respond when someone asks for help, as it can make or break them. Your failure to help might leave such a mark on yourself like Sōta that you might not be able to recuperate.

His pain and guilt find a medium when Setsuna’s creation Altair enters the real world. Initially, he did not want to have anything to do with the character, but then he picks himself up and decides to provide Altair the support that he didn’t to Setsuna. Both of them make a formidable team and start fighting off the dangers that come from other worlds.

This Anime has a royal touch of emotion, sensitivity and nostalgia. It will give you the action as well as love. It will make you respect and appreciate your loved ones more.

The characters are developed really well considering the fact that they had to decrease the number of episodes instead of the planned thirty-nine episodes but the creators did not compromise with the plot or the characters and they made the characters engaging, real and fleshed them out really well.

Music is awesome as both opening and the ending songs go well with the anime and thus you can listen to it without thinking of jumping directly into the episode.

The story and the characters are the real strength of this anime. The world of Gaea is well-constructed. Overall, it’s a story-driven anime and anyone would like to watch it.

Hack sign

‘Hack//sign’ was first aired in 2002 and was produced by Bandai Visual, Yomiko Advertising, Bandai, CyberConnect2 under Bee Train studios. It falls under the genre of game, sci-fi, adventure, fantasy, mystery and magic.

In an MMORPG called the world a wave master by the alias, Tsukasa wakes up with amnesia, with no memory of what he has done before. He is suspected of being a hacker by the Crimson Knights as he is seen accompanied by a tweaked character of a cat, unable to log out from the game Tsukasa wanders around hiding from Crimson Knights and other players whom he meets along the way.

Tsukasa gets hold of an item that transforms into a guardian and offers Tsukasa protection against every harm. Subaru, the leader of Crimson Knights and some other players investigate the reason why Tsukasa cannot log out of the game.

Now, apart from a well-written story, the music and the sound of this anime is what makes it unique and in a different league than other anime. The opening song ‘Obsession’ sets the mood for the story and fits well with the episodes. The animation is so imaginative that you would really get the feel of watching an MMORPG.

This is one of the greatest anime ever created, with its music better than anything. Plots or story-wise it lacks nothing. Overall, this anime should be watched by everyone who likes the genre and appreciates the art behind it.

This anime was first aired on TV in 199. It was produced by TV Tokyo, Shogakukan Productions, Yomiko Advertising, Apollon under studio Studio Pierrot and is based on a manga of the same name written by Yuu Watase. It falls under the genre of fantasy, magic, adventure, romance, historical, comedy, martial arts, drama and Shoujo.

mysterious book “The Universe of The Four Gods” set in ancient China. Miyaka becomes the

priestess of Suzaku and Yui becomes the priestess of enemy nation Seiryuu and both of them who were once best friends now face each other as enemies.

From an animation point of view, it is smooth and the coloring is vibrant. The opening and the ending theme fit the series well. There are many characters and they are developed well and have a huge variety in them, this is one of those series that can be watched over and over again so much that it can make you an addict.

It is a great series and you would like the characters so much that you will experience their own journey on some level and feel for them. The story is a bit different from manga like in the anime only Yui returns but in the manga both of them return to their world. Whoever likes a bit of romance in the anime will like this series.

It’s enjoyable and might give a little nostalgic feel to the nineties’ kids.

Now and then, here and there

This anime was first broadcasted on TV in 1999 and was produced by Victor Entertainment, Pioneer LDC and Rakuonsha under AIC studios. It falls under the genre of military, sci-fi, adventure, fantasy and drama.

Shuuzou “Shuu” Matsutani who is passionate about kendo, loses a match against his rival. Sad Shuu climbs on a smokestack where he meets a blue-haired girl wearing a strange pendant, namely Lala-Ruu. She does not give much attention to Shuu’s attempts to befriending her.

Out of nowhere, a woman with two serpentine machines appears to capture Lala-Ruu but Shuu goes in to save her and gets transported into a deserted world. Still, he tries to save her until completely beaten up by the soldiers. All this happens because Lala-Ruu can manipulate water with the help of her pendant which is the source of the power. The pendant gets lost and Shuu is the suspect.

It’s really difficult to find an anime like this, where the protagonist or victim is tortured and is stuck in a war-ridden place and has to fight hunger and at the same time tries to protect the girl. The way Shuu deals with this is so encouraging to see even after what happens with him is heartwarming.

Story-wise no other anime comes close to this one. Shuu’s character is the best character ever created in anime – this guy lives in a hopeless world, he is nearly killed multiple times but he still thinks for others and tries to save others and thus this is the most recommended anime.

Arifureta From Commonplace to World’s Strongest

Arifureta has a distinct theme that contains a well-proportioned mixture of comedy, romance, harem, drama, mystery. This unique combination has made it extremely popular with the audience.

The development of the central character is distinct in nature. Having a hero of age seventeen is not new for an anime. For this anime, the character grows into a powerful person from a clumsy, regular boy hitting his puberty. The boy gets bullied and harassed initially, but came out as a strong character, firm in nature and determined to win.

The story starts when Hajime Nagumo, a seventeen-year-old Otaku boy falls into an abyss. In that fantasy world, he and his classmates are tasked to save the human race. While all his classmates receive some special powers, he gets none.

Being ridiculed and bullied by them he finds himself in despair. He survives in this world with monsters only by being determined and strong. He starts getting stronger by killing monsters. His unhesitant action and desire to win makes this character distinct.

The anime develops an interesting romantic angle as Hajime meets Yue, a vampire princess and Shea, a rabbit girl. Yue declares herself to be his wife and Shea keeps on persuading Hajime while developing a sister-like bond with Yue. Both of them help Hajime on his development with their superpowers. It is an adaptation of a web-novel or a light novel by Eto Shirakome. The amazing characterization has made this anime popular and helps the anime to earn the title one of the best anime.
