Captain Marvel Is Going To Be Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ‘Face’ In Future

MCU Cosmos released details related to Disney’s CineEurope 2018 presentation in Barcelona, earlier in the week. This included an interview with Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios regarding Avengers 4 as well as Captain Marvel’s footage. It was reported that the presentation also referred to Captain Marvel as “the new face and leader of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Sine the Marvel Cinematic Universe icons Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth’s contracts will be over with Avengers 4; the common belief is that the movie will phase out various original heroes and give more credence to the newer crop of heroes including Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther and Captain Marvel.

For that to happen, MCU needs someone to take over the leadership mantle, which has so far been carried by Tony Stark aka Iron-Man whose debut in 2008 got the franchise going.

Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck have directed Captain Marvel as per a script they jointly wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. The film stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, DjimonHounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, and Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Algenis Perez Soto, McKenna Grace and Annette Bening in presently undisclosed roles. Captain Marvel will land in theaters on March 8, 2019.
