Although it may be a few months before we all find out who will fill Ben Affleck’s shoes in The Batman, it does not really feel premature to rule out the star of Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt. This actor’s contract with Disney may forbid him from being a part of a DC flick, but most of us can actually agree that he is not the right person to channel the gravitas of the Dark Knight.
A few Irish bookmakers have given Pratt 16 to 1 odds on becoming the next Batman, and when Josh Horowitz had brought this topic up to the actor, the MCU star was more surprised than the rest of us.
“Really? Wow. I didn’t know that. You can bet on this stuff? Wow. We should bet enough to budget the movie. And then just do a boondoggle, Batman, that just gets zero per cent on Rotten Tomatoes. Will you be Joker?”
Horowitz had then joked that they had found,
“the one way to make this flop,” to which Pratt had replied,
“I would love to, that’d be awesome.” Horowitz had then mentioned that Jake Gyllenhaal and Armie Hammer have better odds, and Pratt had found this understandable.
“I don’t know what you do now, because there’s been so many iterations of it. Would you go even lower,” Pratt had said.
“And do my voice even more gravelly.”
This actor might have a point when he acknowledges all the challenge of making the familiar hero feel fresh, new exciting again.
The Batman will release on June 25th, 2021.
