Tula Ellice Charisse was professionally known as Cyd Charisse. She was born on March 8th, 1921 in Amarillo, Texas. She was rewarded the National Medal of the Arts and Humanities in 2006. Cyd Charisse died at age 87 of a heart attack on June 17, 2008, in Los Angeles, California.
