There may actually be a movie for Ivan Reitman to helm. All the fans of the 1984 classic, Ghostbusters, have been eagerly awaiting a 3rd movie of this franchise for almost 30 years.
The cast, which had featured Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, late Harold Ramis and Rick Moranis, have been fielding the very same question for almost 3 decades and Dan Aykroyd has now given all the fans a very positive answer.
On AXS TV’s The Big Interview with Dan Rather, Aykroyd had teased all the fans with the news that a whole new Ghostbusters movie is “being written right now.”
He had said that there is a “possibility of a reunion with the three remaining Ghostbusters”, which will include Murray, and also, Hudson. When he had been asked about Bill Murray, he had said,
“I think Billy will come. The story’s so good. Even if he plays a ghost.”
While there is no guarantee as of now that the movie will come to fruition, all the fans are eagerly hoping that it will come through.
The actor did not really mention a lot of details, but it is very safe to assume the new movie will not have any link to Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot in the year, 2016.
There is the question of how to treat the death of Harold Ramis, who has been a staple in the original movies and also one of the co-writers. If they do choose to kill off the character, Dr Egon Spengler, then they would have to actually account for why he does not appear as a ghost.
There is another question on the table relating to Rick Moranis, who had taken a very long hiatus from his career in acting after his wife had died during the ’90s. He had then refused to make a cameo in the movie, Ghostbusters in the year, 2016 but had been seen on screen for the very first time after 10 years when he had played the role of the character, Dark Helmet from Spaceballs on The Goldbergs.
