There is now a lot of evidence that Anthony Mackie’s character, Falcon in the MCU may don the mantle of Captain America. The actor, Chris Evans has finished all his reshoots for the movie, Avengers 4, and he is also done with playing the role of Captain America.

“Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor,” Evans had tweeted.

“To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”

Chris Evans had walked back this statement eventually and had reassured all his fans that he was not saying that Steve Rogers would die in the movie, Avengers 4.

In the comic books, the very title of the superhero, Captain America is a legacy and is always handed from one person to another. Many superheroes have acquired this mantle-John Walker -(U.S. Agent), and Jeffrey Mace (Patriot) are examples.

Chris Evans’ departure does not mean that the fans will not get a Captain America. Marvel has two characters who have taken up the role of Captain America- the Winter Soldier and the Falcon.

1. WRITERS OF INFINITY WAR THINK THAT BUCKY SHOULDN’T BECOME CAPTAIN AMERICA

Christopher Markus, the co-writer of Infinity War admitted he does not understand why Bucky Barnes should become Captain America:

“I will say, just on a fan level, I think Winter Soldier’s so awesome that I’m always like, why are you wasting Winter Soldier and putting him in like Captain America outfit? You had two heroes now you got one.”

The fans do not know how widespread the view has become an influential Markus is when it comes to Kevin Feige’s planning.

2. BUCKY BARNES SEEMS TO BE GOING IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION

In the post-credits scene of Black Panther, we had seen Bucky taking a different role. Shuri had deprogrammed him, and he had been given a cyborg arm. Bucky lived in Wakanda for many years and has also integrated into the Wakandan society. He had abandoned the “Winter Soldier” title, and the Wakandan children had called him the “White Wolf.” In the comic books, the White Wolf had been T’Chaka’s devoted subject and was a physically powerful warrior, and he had defended the Wakandan monarch. The MCU’s decision to use this title when it came to Bucky Barned means a lot.

3. A FALCON FILM MAY NEVER HAPPEN

Falcon has been a very crucial support superhero, but he has not really had a chance to have a stand-alone movie. Anthony Mackie is not sure is a movie like that would even work and in the year, 2016, he had pointed out that the fun of playing this character had been him interacting with the other superheroes.

“I like going to work with good people,” he had said,

“to meet these people and see the way they work and kind of delve into their process as well is really a learning experience for me. So I feel like when you go to work and it’s just you, and it’s me — ‘Look at me, haha’ — it takes away from that.”

We must note that this is a very old quote and the fans have no idea regarding Marvel’s plans. While there is no evidence of a solo Falcon film, there is a possibility that Sam Wilson may star in a spinoff TV series.

4. FALCON HAD BEEN AS CAPTAIN AMERICA VERY RECENTLY IN THE COMICS

Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson have become Captain America in the comic books, but Sam has very recently, and it had worked well. Bucky’s tenure as the Captain America had faced one issue-this superhero had been living in the shadow of what he had been before and Bucky’s run as Captain America was a very weird one.

Falcon always felt like was in Captain America’s shadow and he said: “My name isn’t… and the Falcon” and he had stepped up like this had been something he had taken very seriously.

5. KEVIN FEIGE HAS PROMISED THAT DIVERSITY IS THE FUTURE OF THE MCU

Marvel Studios is now pressed regarding the issue of diversity, and now Kevin Feige has been emboldened by the response to Tessa Thompson has Valkyrie in the movie, Thor: Ragnarok and the success at the box office for Black Panther.

“As Panther has so loudly declared,” Feige had said, ”

[representation] can only help you, can only help you tell unique stories, can only help you do things in a new, and unique, and fresh, and exciting way. If you do that, audiences will notice it and appreciate it, and support it.”

6. FRANK GRILLO HAS SUGGESTED THAT THERE MAY BE A BLACK CAPTAIN AMERICA

Frank Grillo, who had played Crossbones in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and also the movie, Captain America: Civil War had recalled his tenure with Marvel and had also discussed who the next Captain America may be. He said he expects an African American or female Captain America.
