Very controversial news came out after Inger Steven’s death which was, Ike Jones, the first African-American graduate from UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film, and Television claimed that he and Steven secretly married since 1961. Later, when Steven’s brother confirmed that Stevens had married Jones but she hid the fact of fearing for her career and the court also ruled in Jones’s favor. Her website also stated that she got married Jones in Mexico.
Before that, Steven got married to her agent, Anthony Soglio in 1955 but they got divorced in 1957.
This actress took born on 18th October in 1934 in Stockholm, Sweden. Her parents were Lisbet Stensland and Per Gustaf. When she was 9 years old, her mother abandoned the family. In 1944, she moved to New York City with her father and stepmother. At the age of 16, she fled to Kansas City to work in burlesque shows but came back to New York City when she was 18 and started working as a chorus girl and also taking classes at the Actors Studio.
In 1954, she made her debut in acting with the television series, Kraft Television Theatre. Afterward, she appeared in several television series and commercials. She became famous for appearing in the series The Farmer’s Daughter to which she was attached from 1963-1966. Some of her television series are The Most Deadly Game, The Nurses, The Mask of Sheba, Thee Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, Sam Benedict, and many others. In 1957, she made her debut on the big screen with the film, Man on Fire. In 1968, she was cast in the film, A Time for Killing. Her other films are The Buccaneer, Madigan, House of Cards, Firecreek, The New Interns, and so on. Her final appearance in the television series was, Run, Simon, Run in 1970.
On 30th April in 1970, she found dead on her kitchen floor. The cause of her death was for acute barbiturate poisoning.
She achieved the Golden Globe Award and was nominated for the Emmy Award and Laurel Award.
