The singer, Jennifer Nettles has recently released her new recording, Tomorrow from the Broadway musical, Annie. She put the song accompanying video as a gesture of hope and support during the time of the coronavirus pandemic. Nettles stated that netizens have been through challenging times together as a country and they all made sacrifices on the fire and she also hopes that the sun will come out tomorrow.
She was born on 12th September in 1974 in Douglas, Georgia, the U.S. She began performing at school assemblies and she completed her graduation from Coffee High School.
While a student, she along with Cory Jones formed a group, Soul Miner’s Daughter and released two albums, The Sacred and Profane in 1996 and Hallelujah in 1998. In 1999, she also formed another group, Jennifer Nettles Band and the band released three studio albums. In 2003, she teamed up with Kristian Bush and Kristen Hall and formed the band, Sugarland. But in 2006, Kristen Hall left the group and the other duo released their second album, Enjoy the Ride in 2006 and 2008, they released their third album, Love on the Inside. She also did a duet performance with Bon Jovi in Who Says You Can’t Go Home that ranked number 7 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. The duo took a hiatus from the band to focus on their solo career but they reunited in 2017 and released their sixth album, Bigger in 2017. In 2009, Jennifer performed at the Kennedy Center Honors. In 2012, she served as a judge on the singing competition series, Duets.
Jennifer released her solo single, That Girl in 2013 and the following year, she released her debut album, That Girl. In 2015, she signed with Big Machine Label Group and her single, Unlove You has been featured on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She also released a single, King of the City for the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 attack. She made her acting debut in 2015 with the television film, Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors as Avie Lee Parton. In 2016, she appeared in the television series, Underground. Since 2019, she is playing the role of Aimee-Leigh Gemstone in the series, The Righteous Gemstones.
From 1998-2007, she was married to Todd Van Sickle. Later in 2011, she married Justin Miller with whom she has a child.
She has won the Grammy Award twice.
