Jenny Agutter (Born-1952, age-67 years), English movie-star, television-icon, and stage-personality thought otherwise. This Somerset born lady spent her initial years in Singapore, Cyprus, and Kuala Lumpur before her enrollment in Elmhurst Ballet School, one of the earliest English boarding-schools with a legacy on dance training at the age of eight.
As a child-artist she commenced her film career in 1964, TV acting in 1968. She had stormed the British movie, television and stage arena with some critically acclaimed characterization before her shifting to the USA in 1974. Her glittering career both in Hollywood and Europe continued till 1990 with some all-time hits and memorable performances. She acted in a few of the classical dramas on British Stage in the seventies and eighties. To date, Agutter concentrated on British television programs but also graced some of the recent Hollywood films. She had her share of audio drama and participation with a pop-band Prefab-Sprout.
Agutter and Johan Tham, a Swedish hotelier, met in an art exhibition at Bath, married in 1990 and blessed with their son, Jonathon, in the same year. The family reported living in London & Cornwall. She stood for the women suffering from cystic fibrosis, patronized Shakespeare Schools Festival for school kids and opined strongly regarding contemporary British socio-political issues.
Agutter won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1971 (TV Film-The Snow Goose), BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Film-Equus, 1977). She was nominated for the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Film – The Survivor, 1981) and Saturn Award for Best Actress (Film An American Werewolf in London, 1981). For her charitable service, she had been honored Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2012.
