Judy Garland’s ex-lover John Meyer recalled her memory and stated how Garland was then at her last days. According to Meyer, Garland’s career decreased in her last days and she owed several million dollars to the IRS. She was then divorced from her fourth husband and she was broken and homeless. Garland’s overriding motivation was Love me and she made people prove it in all her relationships. Meyer also said that she was on a combination of Ritalin and Vodka. She started her career with her two elder sisters as a child and appeared in several films and television series. The sisters made a group called The Gumm Sisters. Later, they changed the name to The Garland Sisters. In 1935, she was signed with MGM Production and started performing in various studio functions. She first appeared as a supporting character in the B film, Thoroughbreds Don’t Cry in 1937. In 1939, she appeared in lead role in Babes in Arms. She became famous for her role as Dorothy Gal in The Wizard of Oz in 1939. But after appearing in several films, she left MGM in 1950. She was nominated for the Academy Award for her performance in the film, A Star Is Born in 1954. She got very famous and also made record-breaking concert appearances and released eight studio albums. From 1963-1964, she hosted her television series, The Judy Garland Show. In 1962, she won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and became the first woman who won in this category. Many of her recordings have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

She was born on 10th June in 1922 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Her parents were Francis Avent Gumm and Ethel Marion. She was of English, Scottish, and Irish descent.

On 22nd June in 1969, she died of overdosing of barbiturates in the bathroom of the rented house.

She has achieved the Juvenile Award, Golden Globe Award, Grammy Award, OFTA TV Hall of Fame, etc.
