The John Wick actor, Keanu Reeves is surely no stranger to playing roles which require physical combat. Due to not just his talents in acting but also his history of playing challenging sequences, the actor is a very popular name that is thrown into the ring when fans speculate their favourite comic book characters who can come to life on the silver screen. When they are given a choice of any DC or Marvel character, he will claim that he would like to bring Wolverine to life.
“I don’t know; when I was a kid, I always wanted to play Wolverine, so, Wolverine,” the actor said.
Reeves’ roles in different movies have seemed like superheroes, with a lot of reports citing Reeves as being in the running for many roles. A report had also claimed that were it not for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the actor would have played the role of Yon-Rogg in the movie, Captain Marvel.
Hugh Jackman has played the role of Wolverine, and this had debuted in the year, 2000. His last and final performance as the character had come in the year, 2017 with Logan.
The X-Men franchise is now ready to end with X-Men: Dark Phoenix and Disney has earned the rights to these characters, and this allows them to be included in the MCU down the line. There are no confirmed plans about when and how the new characters will be brought to life.
The directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, have also made it very clear that they will step away from the MCU. They had also expressed their interest in developing a project with Wolverine:
“I mean, we’ve always been huge fans of Wolverine,” Anthony Russo said.
“We certainly haven’t been thinking about if and when and how we would ever go there, but just off the top of my head, that’s a character we’ve always been passionate about.
