Keanu Reeves Would Love to Play Wolverine, Even More Than Batman

Over the course of his career, the John Wick star, Keanu Reeves has played many badass roles, but he has not stepped into the shoes of a superhero. Reeves now seems to want to play the role of the clawed mutant, Wolverine.

While the actor had been speaking with ScreenGeek, Alice Eve had thrown around a few questions about Replicas. Reeves had then gone on to say that he wanted to play Logan in a Marvel movie.

The interviewer had asked him if he wanted to Wolverine or DC’s Batman:

“Of the two, I’d love to play Wolverine.”

Hugh Jackman “retired” from this role after his last appearance as Wolverine in Logan, and this had disappointed the Deadpool actor, Ryan Reynold. However, with the Disney and Fox deal being finalised we can expect to see Wolverine in the MCU, although he will not be played by Hugh Jackman.

Fox has one major movie left with X-Men: Dark Phoenix which will release this year.

Jean Grey actress, Sophie Turner had talked about this purchase:

“I don’t know. I feel the complexities of the X-Men being shunned by society and segregated is not something that happens in the Avengers universe,” Sophie Turner said.

“Of course, I want to see them crossover but I don’t think the themes through X-Men will collaborate well with the Avengers. It’ll be very different. If they do it, I’d love to see how it turns out.”

The director, Simon Kinberg spoke out about this;

“I see it as a new chapter,” Kinberg had added.

“I see it as taking the franchise in a different direction tonally. And that doesn’t mean that the next one will have the same tone, it just means that the next one can have a different tone. I think for many years, the X-Men, Bryan [Singer] really transformed the superhero genre in 2000 or 2001 when the first one came out. That’s almost 20 years ago. It is a long time ago. And at that time, superhero movies were not wildly popular, actually. There had been a few failures in the mid-90s, and there hadn’t been a lot of superhero movies, if any, around that time and X-Men sort of was revolutionary in its moment.”

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will release on June 7, 2019.
