The King of Queens star, Leah Remini has always been vocal critic against the Church of Scientology and recently she has brought national attention to Clearwater’s city council elections by endorsing Chair 2 candidate, Mark Bunker. There is no specific reason was given for Remini’s endorsement but it makes a lot of sense though. The Clearwater’s election will be on 17th March.
Remini became a member of the Church of Scientology at the age of 9 and in 2005, she helped the Citizens Commission on Human Rights to promote the gala opening of the Psychiatry: An Industry of Death. In 2013, she left the Church of Scientology saying as forbid members from questioning the management of church leaders that she believed was corrupt. In 2015, she released her memoir, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology in which she described her reason to leave the Church of Scientology. From 2016-2019, she co-produced and hosted the award-winning documentary series, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath. Her acting career began in 1988 with the television series, Head of the Class. From 1991-1993, she played the role of Serafina in the series, Cheers. She became famous for portraying the role of Carrie Heffernan in the series, The King of Queens to which she was attached from 1998-2007. She also was the co-host of the show, The Talk from 2010-2011. She was a contestant at Dancing with the Stars in 2013 and from 2014-2015, she served as a host at the show. From 2017-2018, she appeared as Vanessa Cellucci in the series, Kevin Can Wait. She made her big-screen debut in 1997 with the film, Critics and Other Freaks. Her other films are The Clapper, Old School, Second Act, Mad Families, and others.
She was born on 15th June in 1970 in New York City, the U.S. Her parents are Vicki Marshall and George Remini.
In 2003, she married actor, Angelo Pegan with whom she has a daughter.
She has won the Primetime Emmy Award and PGA Award.
