The Canadian actress Lexa Doig is best known for the title role in the Canadian-American sci-fi series Andromeda. She also portrayed in several films and television series afterward.
Lexa Doig was born on 8th June in 1973 in Toronto, Ontario. She is the daughter of Gloria B. Lecciones and Davis W. Doig. After watching the theatre production of Porgy and Bess at the age of 9, Lexa grew a keen interest to become an actress.
She began her career as a model after completing the education. At the age of 16, she was offered by a talent agent and booked for several modeling projects. She co-hosted the Canadian game show Video & Arcade Top 10 from 1991 to 2006. She also worked in the productions of Romeo and Juliet and Arsenic and Old Lace.
She made her debut in acting in 1993 with the television show The Hidden Room as the role of Second Girl. But she got her breakthrough role after being cast in the sci-fi television series Andromeda from 2000 to 2005 in which she played as the Andromeda Ascendant. The other television series in which she appeared include TekWar, Flash Gordon, Traders, Killer Instinct, Eureka, Supernatural, Arctic Air, Arrow, Saving Hope, The Arrangement, and many others. She made her debut in films in 1995 with the film Jungleground as the role of Spider. She got fame after working in the horror film Jason X in 2002 in the role of Dr. Rowan LaFontaine. The other films in which she acted are Teen Sorcery, Tactical Force, No Alibi, etc. In 2019, she worked in the upcoming Netflix television series Virgin River.
She married her co-star Michael Shanks in 2003 and with him, she has two children. The couple has worked in several TV series together.
She has not achieved so many awards in her career till now but won the Leo Award once. She has also been nominated for several awards including Saturn Award, Leo Award, Cinescape Genre Face of the Future Award.
