The Hollywood star Lucy Liu who also served herself as a director has directed the Bollywood actor Anupam Kher in the second season of the medical drama New Amsterdam. Anupam Kher played as neurologist Dr. Vijay Kapoor in the series.
Liu was born on 2nd December in 1968 in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York. She attended New York University and gained a bachelor’s degree in Asian languages and cultures.
She was discovered by an agent at the age of 19. In 1991, she was cast in her debut television series Beverly Hills, 90210. Afterward, she appeared in several TV series but she became famous for portraying the role of Ling Woo in the series Ally McBeal in 1998. She also appeared in television series like Girls, Southland, Marry Me, The Simpsons, and many more.
Though she made her big-screen debut with Rhythm of Destiny, she got her fame for playing the role of Alex Munday in the film Charlie’s Angel in 2000. She won an award for the film Kill Bill. Her other film credits are Flypaper, True Crime, Mulan II, Sherlock Holmes, etc. She also lent her voice in the animated film of Tinker Bell and its sequels.
She is a single parent of her biological son.
