She appeared in the television film, Ordinary Miracles as Sally Anne Powell in 2005. From 2005-2014, she was cast as Penny Mosby in the series, How I Met Your Mother. She became famous for playing the role of Dylan Mayfair in the series Desperate Housewives from 2007-2009. She was widely praised and was nominated for an award for her performance in the series. She also was cast in the role of Cheyanne in the television film, Five in 2011. She also got fame for appearing as Alex Udinov in the series, Nikita from 2010-2013. Her other television series are Pitch, Grandfathered, Heroes, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Big Love, Switched, NYPD Blue, and many others. She made her big-screen debut with the film, Intellectual Property in 2006 as Jenny. In 2010, she appeared as Katie Deauxma in the film, Kick-Ass and she reprised her role in the film, Kick-Ass 2 in 2013. Her other films are Remember the Daze, The Ward, The Escort, Hot Tub Time Machine, Moments of Charity, and so on.
From 2009-2013, she was married to Mathew Smiley. Later in 2016, she got married to her co-star, Noah Bean with whom she has a daughter.
