The latest DC movie, Aquaman had a Man of Steel easter egg in it, and it is pretty easy to spot.
While Aquaman and the Man of Steel did not outright call out each other’s names, a few off-screen moments have indicated a connection between these films. The very first one had come in the film, Man of Steel where Clark Kent had tried to save all the employees who were on a collapsing and burning oil rig. After all of his efforts had come up short, he had been discovered alive with a whale and a child. The director of Man of Steel, Zack Snyder had confirmed this was Aquaman’s work.
Then there was a reference to this very moment in the movie, Aquaman. During a scene where Arthur Curry’s half-brother, Orm had been lecturing him about all the actions of surface dwellers and how they were polluting the seas, they were surrounded with holograms. Among these holograms had been an image of an oil rig burning down, and this was a reference to the moment where Aquaman had rescued Superman.
Aquaman and Superman had not really met each other until the movie, Justice League had brought the superheroes together, and this may mean that Arthur had saved Clark without really knowing that he had saved Superman. Although Snyder might have made plans to reference this moment in the expansive universe, all his efforts with DC films had been cut short after he had transitioned out of his directorial role for the movie, Justice League. His interconnected movies had extended to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Man of Steel, and a few parts of the movie, Justice League.
Whether or not Snyder had intended for this sequence to be a factor in the narrative of the Aquaman film villain’s motives is not known as of now.
Aquaman is showing in theatres.
