The American model and actress, Martha Vickers was born on 28^th May in 1925 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the U.S. Her family moved to Hollywood when Vickers was 15.

She began her career as a model and appeared on several covers of magazines. In 1943, she made her debut in film with an uncredited part in Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man. Then, she appeared in several films while working with Universal Studios and RKO Pictures. Later, she signed a contract with the Warner Bros. she became famous for playing the role of Carmen Sternwood, the drug-addicted girl in the film, The Big Sleep in 1946. She appeared in the musical, The Time, the Place and the Girl. Her other films are Top Man, Marine Raiders, The Falcon in Mexico, Ruthless, The Burgler, The Big Bluff, and the others. In the 1950s, Vicker’s film career was declined. So, she started appearing on television. She first appeared on television in 1952 in the TV series, The Unexpected. In 1959, she appeared as Sheila Hayes in the series Perry Mason. Her other television series are Ford Theatre, The Rebel, The Whistler, The Millionaire, Fireside Theatre, and so on.

She had married three times and all of her marriages were unsuccessful. She had a son with her second husband, Mickey Rooney and had two daughters with her third husband, Manuel Rojas.

On 2^nd November in 1971, she died of esophageal cancer at Valley Presbyterian Hospital at the age of 46. She was buried in Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in California.
