Many of the MCU’s stars’ contracts are coming to an end with the film, Avengers: Endgame and this would mean that one of the key players, Chris Hemsworth, who plays the role of Thor in the MCU is leaving. Hemsworth will be replaced by another actor who will take on the mantle of the God of Thunder.
There have been a lot of iterations of Thor in the comics, and one of these can be adapted for playing the God of Thunder from Norse mythology in the MCU. The comic books had revealed to the fans that it is not the parentage or heritage that makes a character become Thor. However, to wield the power of controlling storms and lightning, one would require one to fit the criterion. The Mjolnir possesses an enchantment on it which allows it to scan the world and pick the next Thor.
The films can use the very same logic to choose the next God of Thunder. However, the hammer had been destroyed by Hela in the movie, Thor: Ragnarok. Thor does not wield the Mjolnir, but he uses the Stormbreaker.
Thor is the wielder of an equally magnificent weapon which in the comic books belongs to another character. We do not know who the actor is, but the fans know that they will not choose Thor Odinson for this role anymore. The next Thor could be Beta Ray Bill, the person who had become Thor after he managed to impresses Odin and Thor with his valour in the comic books.
The movie, Avengers: Endgame will release on 26th of April, 2019. The official movie synopsis reads:
“After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War, the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.”
