Moira Shearer King, Lady Kennedy was born on 17th January 1926 in Scotland, she is the only child of Harold Charles King and Margaret Crawford Reid. Moira enrolled Mona Inglesby’s International Ballet for its 1941 regional tour and West End season before shifting on to Sadler’s Wells in 1942. She became an internationally renowned British ballet dancer and actress. Moira resigned from ballet in 1953, but she proceeded to act, occurring as Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the 1954 Edinburgh Festival. She worked similarly for Powell on The Tales of Hoffmann and on the controversial film Peeping Tom in 1960, which damaged Powell’s career.

In the year 1972, she was selected by the BBC to present the Eurovision Song Contest when it was organized at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh. Moira also jotted down for The Daily Telegraph newspaper and gave talks on ballet worldwide. In the year 1987, the choreographer Gillian Lynne enlisted her to back to ballet to play in A Simple Man for the BBC as L.S Lowry’s mother.

In the year 1950, Moira Shearer wedded journalist and broadcaster Ludovic Kennedy. Kennedy and she had a son, named Alastair, and three daughters, Ailsa, Rachel, and Fiona. At the age of 80, Moira died at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, England.
