Samuel L. Jackson, who will reprise the role of Nick Fury, but, for the first time he will be seen as a two-eyed super-spy in Captain Marvel, a film based in the 1990s, posted an image on Instagram on Wednesday. In the photo, custom made hoodies that Jackson and the movie’s star Brie Larson had gifted to the cast and crew, were revealed. The hoodies had flags with the insignia of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Captain Marvel, above the picture of a yellow cat.
The image carried the caption “[everybody] earned their stripes on this one” and “higher, faster, stronger.”
In the comic books, Captain Marvel carried her cuddly cat to space where she was told by Rocket Raccoon (Guardians of the Galaxy) that Chewie (named after the character of Chewbacca from Star Wars) was in fact, an alien cat-like species known as Elerken. These alien “cats” are capable of teleportation and also unleashing dangerous tendrils from their mouths, and the creatures can store whole universes there.
The Captain Marvel comics have merged with the MCU version of the superhero, making her movie costumes canon in the mainstream Marvel Universe in the books.
Filming for the movie completed in California towards the end of June and it has now relocated to Louisiana for the last two weeks. Now that Captain Marvel is about to wrap up all of its principal filming and Ant-Man and The Wasp is out in theaters, Marvel is soon going to focus on marketing this film after her existence was teased in the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War.
“I think there’s still a few months on it,”Feige said about revealing Captain Marvelfootage.“You already know as much as you need to. We’ve got Skrulls, we’ve got the Kree, it takes place in the ‘90s, you have Sam Jackson with two eyes and Carol Danvers, a unique telling of Carol Danvers’ origin story.”
Captain Marvel is the story of Air Force pilot Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) at a time when Earth gets entangled in the galactic battle between two alien races: blue-skinned Kree and the green, shapeshifting aliens called The Skrulls. This intergalactic risk also involves S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Nick Fury (Samuel Jackson) and Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and also Ronan The Accuser (Lee Pace) and Kree killer Korath the Pursuer (DjimonHounsou). They are accompanied by debutants Gemma Chan, Lashana Lynch, Ben Mendelsohn and Jude Law who plays Dr. Walter Lawson aka Mar-Vell.
Captain Marvel is scheduled to release on March 8.
