She was born on 28th February in 1961 in Edmonton, Canada. She is the daughter of famous comedian Tommy Chong and Maxine Sneed. Her father is of Scots-Irish descent and mother is of Black Canadian descent.
She made her acting debut with Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color as Greta in 1974. Afterward, she appeared in several TV series like Melrose Place, Wild Card, That’s So Raven, The Outer Limit, and many others. She made her film debut in 1978 with Stony Island. She got her fame after being cast in the film Quest for Fire in 1981 in the role of Ika.
She achieved an award for the film. She worked with her father in the films like Far Out Man, The Corsican Brothers. She worked in several TV films as well. The other films in which she appeared included Beat Street, The Color Purple, Crying Freeman, Deadly Skies, and so on. She also appeared in the music video of Just Another Night. She made her directorial debut with the horror short film Cursed Part 3.
She married Owen Bayliss with whom she has a son. They divorced in 1982. Later in 1989, she got married to C. Thomas Howell but they got divorced in 1990. She then married Nathan Ulrich but the couple also separated in 2014.
In 1983, she achieved the Genie Award.
