The American actress, producer, and writer who is widely known for her role as Ann Perkins in the comedy series, Parks and Recreation and Karen Filippelli in the series The Office is none other than Rashida Jones.
She was born on 25th February in 1976 in Los Angeles, California. Her parents are Peggy Lipton and Quincy Jones. She is of African American and Ashkenazi Jewish descent. She had a keen interest in music and learned how to play the piano at an early age. In her second year of college, she performed in the theatre piece For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/ When the Rainbow Is Enuf.
In 1997, she made her professional acting debut with the television mini-series, The Last Don. After that, she appeared in If These Walls Could Talk 2. From 2000-2002, she appeared in the series Boston Public as Louisa Fenn for which she was nominated for an award. She played the role of Karen Filippelli in the series The Office. She also played the role of Karen in the Saturday Night Live episode.
She became famous for appearing as Ann Perkins in the mockumentary-style sitcom, Parks and Recreation to which she was attached from 2009-2015. Her other television series are Web Therapy, Unhitched, The Awesomes, Angie Tribeca, Neo Yokio, and many more. She made her film debut in 1998 with the film, Myth America. She starred and co-wrote the film, Celeste and Jesse Forever in 2012. Her other film credits are Spies in Disguise, The Sound of Silence, Inside Out, The Muppets, Cop Out, and many others. She made her directorial debut with an episode of Hot Girls Wanted in 2015. She also co-directed and co-wrote the documentary Quincy that debuted on Netflix in 2018 and the documentary won the Grammy Award in 2019.
In 2003, she got engaged to music producer Mark Ronson but after a year, they ended their relationship. Currently, she is dating musician Ezra Koenig with whom she has a son.
