Samantha Ann Quek, MBE, is an English previous field hockey player. She played as a safeguard for both the England and Great Britain groups, wearing crew number 13, and won gold as a feature of the British group at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Quek has introduced different TV sports shows, remembering American football for the BBC, rugby association on Channel 5, field hockey on BT Sport, and football for Channel 4 and LFC TV. Sam Quek was brought into the world on October 18, 1988, at Mill Road Hospital, Liverpool, to an English mother, Marilyn Quek (née Higgins), and Singaporean dad, Albert Quek.

The family moved to West Derby’s suburb when she was about a month old. She went to Hillside Primary School in Wirral for a year before moving to independent Birkenhead High School in Birkenhead and going on to 6th structure at Calday Grange Grammar School in West Kirby.

She learned at Leeds Metropolitan University, where she procured a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science. Quek began playing hockey while at Birkenhead High School and went to preliminaries for the Wirral under-12 group. She was chosen to play for Wirral County at the Merseyside Youth Games, and the group won the competition.

She was chosen the next year again when the group was also successful. She then joined a group called Mini Panthers, where she was instructed by the group coordinator Peter Cartmel, who had prior chosen her for the Wirral County group.

Quek played as a safeguard and proceeded to speak to both the England and Great Britain groups, wearing crew number 13. In 2005, Quek was essential for the England group that won the Girl’s (Under-18s) Four Nations Invitational Tournament by vanquishing Holland on punishments after a 1–1 attract the last.
