She was born on 12^th October in 1950 in Oak Glen, California. She completed her graduation in 1968 from Yucaipa High School. In 1969, she won the Miss Redlands and then, she was crowned the Miss California beauty contest title. That year, she became the second runner-up in the Miss America Scholarship Pageant. But the show didn’t run well. Later, she appeared in her show, Presenting Susan Anton, Stop Susan Williams. She recorded the song, Killin’ Time which became the biggest hit in her life. She appeared in the television series, Night Court. She also appeared in the musical, Hairspray. She reprised her role as Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray at the Hollywood Bowl production in 2011. From 1992-1994, she appeared in the TV series Baywatch. Her other television credits are Switch, The Love Boat, Super Password, My Secret Identity, City Guys, Civil Wars, and many more. She also appeared in several films like Goldengirl, Cannonball Run II, Spring Fever, Lena’s Holiday, and the others.

From 1975-1980, she was married to Jack Stein. Later in 1992, she got married to television actor Jeff Lester.

Though she has not won any awards yet, she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award and Razzie Award.
