Althea Rae Duhinio Janario, aka Tia Carrere, was born on 2nd January 1967 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Even though she was more interested in music, her career started with acting. Tia got eliminated from the 1985 Star Search when she was 17.
The star was spotted by a local producer and was cast in the film Aloha Summer. She returned to Los Angeles and worked as a model for a few months. Her modeling success was followed by her journey as an actress when she got her first role in the American Television series Airwolf in early 1985.

Tia rose to prominence with her role in the soap opera General Hospital, in which she played the role of Jade Soong Chung from 1985 to 1987. The critics praised her performance in the action films Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man and the Showdown in Little Tokyo.
