She made her big-screen debut in 2005 with the film, The Urban Demographic as Janice Green. In 2011, she appeared as Drum Major in the film, Driving by Braille. She was cast as Trina in the film, Keanu in 2016. She got very famous and won and was nominated for several awards for portraying the role of Dina in the film, Girls Trip in 2017. She will next appear in the film, Bad Trip. Her other films are The Kitchen, Uncle Drew, Night School, The Oath, Mad Families, School Dance, and many more.
She was married to William Stewart. In 2017, she released her memoir, The Last Black Unicorn.
