In 1967, while rehearsing A Delicate Balance, her tuberculosis recurred and she was advised to take rest. On 7^th July in 1967, she died in her flat.

She was married to Leigh Holman in 1932 and she had a daughter with him. They divorced in 1940. After in 1940, she got married to Laurence Olivier but they called it off in 1960.
